It's been pink, it's been yellow; now it's white and blue and all brand new!
This home has been a very popular seasonal rental for over 20 years. We recently took a year, from October '21 to October '22, to fully renovate the three bedroom, two bath property, and will again be offering it beginning the summer of 2023!

You will have full use of our 150 feet of lakefront, including several different seating areas. Soak up the sweeping views to the north with 20 miles of open water, marvel at our dazzling sunsets! Relax with a book in the shade of the wisteria covered pergola, enjoy your morning coffee or evening cocktail at the end of the dock, bask in the sun on the second story deck over the water, or venture out on the water with the two kayaks, all just a quick walk from your front door.

Located in the charming, picturesque hamlet of Sheldrake, half-way up the west side of Cayuga Lake, we are situated in the middle of the Cayuga Wine Trail.
Water to Wine Tours departs from our dock, taking passengers to wineries by boat.
Sheldrake Point Winery is a five-minute stroll to the south; Hosmer and Thirsty Owl Wineries are a short drive to the north, and Lucas Winery is a short drive to the south. Myer Farm Distillers, where everything they bottle is done "from field to flask", is just up the hill.

Natural light fills the house, with all new windows and the addition of four new sliding glass doors. The living room and two bedrooms feature newly refinished wood floors; the kitchen, bathrooms, laundry room and third bedroom have new luxury vinyl plank flooring.
There are lovely lake views from the front deck, the living room, and the master bedroom.
The well-appointed, fully equipped kitchen is outfitted with granite counter tops, stainless steel appliances, including a gas stove top and oven, center island, and dining area for six looking out on the expansive back yard.
Instant tankless hot water and central air conditioning ensure your comfort during your stay.
The sizable living room has room for everyone to spread out, with a 70" smart TV and plenty of seating for all. Recessed, dimmable lighting allows you to get just the right ambience.
There is a spacious covered back deck, directly off the kitchen, which offers a large picnic table under a beautiful ceiling fan, and a hard-piped gas grill---no running out of gas in the middle of your cook out! There are also two front decks---one with a dining table for six, with umbrella, and a smaller covered deck at the front door.
There are many restaurants within a 10-15 minute drive; the Bistro at Thirsty Owl Winery is an especially fabulous and scenic spot for lunch or early dinner. Prouty's Bar, overlooking Sheldrake Creek, has a great fish fry on Friday nights, and fantastic burgers! The village of Trumansburg has several options, including Little Venice, Hazelnut Kitchen and Atlas Bowl.

Summary: We booked the property to allow us to explore the Finger Lakes region and attend a friend's wedding. From the moment I made the booking, Maura and Skip were fantastic hosts. Maura checked in with us periodically, offering us dining recommendations, advice as to must-see attractions, and local insights. The property is in a quiet but relatively easy to reach location, and we immediately felt at ease. The property feels spacious and has a wealth of natural light (really, the number of windows and sliding doors is almost shocking). The wood floors may be original, but have clearly been well cared for and are beautiful. The kitchen has been very nicely updated, and although we did not have much opportunity to use it (or the grill), it would have been perfect if our trip had been more sit-and-relax vs. out-and-about. The lake amenities are also quite nice. My friends made use of the kayaks, and we all enjoyed sitting out on the dock. Though we did not have enough days to do so, it is my understanding that Skip runs boat tours (and in some cases, winery/boat tours), and it would have been extremely convenient to walk down to the dock for such a tour. For complete newcomers looking to explore the region, this was the perfect booking: phenomenal location; gracious hosts; good proximity to waterfalls, wineries, and multiple area towns; and (perhaps most importantly) a comfortable, well-appointed property with modern updates.
